Description

Tibetan Droma also known as Wild Ginseng Fruit is a wild-harvested root found on the plateau grasslands. Served atop a plate of rice and sprinkled with a little sugar and melted butter,Tibetan Droma root is chewy and tasty. Its flavour is similar to sweet potatoes or parsnips. Highly nutritious, the small, red root is full of iron, protein and antioxidants.

Tibetan Droma is commonly used to make Dresil, a sweet rich dish Tibetans serve on special occasions through the year like weddings and Losar. Tibetan Droma is also used with yogurt and yak butter to make delicious droma yogurt.

Every spring and autumn students from the Awam Institute in Tibet will gather and dig hand by hand each droma from the snow covered plateau at an altitude of 4100 meters.
